Governors are extremely important people in the life of CPFT. They help to guide and inform the work that we do. Governors reflect the views of CPFT's members and help us to decide what sort of services it should be offering to local people.
You have to be a member of CPFT to become a Governor - don't worry if you're not a member, it's easy to join. Just click here to take you to our online membership form. To be Governor you just have to be 16 years old and over. You can be a Governor representing either patients, carers or the public.
The Governors are responsible for representing the interests of CPFT's members and partner organisations in the governance of the Trust. They contribute to the annual planning cycle of CPFT, support service change, actively support our work to challenge stigma, promote social inclusion and mental well-being and promote membership of CPFT.
We have recruited 39 people to the Board of Governors: 15 elected public Governors, six elected patient and carer Governors, four staff Governors and 14 appointed Governors from partner organisations and other relevant organisations with a direct interest in CPFT.
As a Governor, you will:
- Be consulted on plans for changes to our local mental health services
- Be consulted about any areas of special interest that you have
- Be prepared to meet with and speak to members in your constituency to hear their views
- Receive user friendly information to keep you up to date with the work of CPFT
- Appoint the Chair and Non-Executive Directors of CPFT and approve the appointment of the Chief Executive.
Attached right is a special question-and-answer sheet about becoming a Governor. If you have any further questions, please e-mail us at foundationtrust@cpft.nhs.uk.
