The Deputy Prime Minister has today called on all NHS trusts to commit to a new ambition for ‘zero suicides’ in order to dramatically reduce suicides in our health service. (Click here for more)

In response, Aidan Thomas, Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (pictured) said:

“Any suicide is a tragedy. At CPFT, we monitor this issue very closely, and we are also committed to signing up to the Stop Suicide initiative run by Mind in Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Fenland Mind, and Lifecraft.

“While we will continue to do everything we can, the level of intense work that is being discussed will need a degree of funding that currently isn’t available to Trusts nationally.”
