Staff at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust have been honoured with a prestigious national award.

The Psychological Wellbeing Service team won the Integration Award at the British Heart Foundation Alliance Awards 2018 which were held in Manchester earlier this week.

The team from CPFT - which provides mental health and community care - offers psychological therapy for patients with cardiovascular disease.

The service has run for just over a year since the Trust became one of the first in the county to be to be selected by NHS England to deliver integrated psychological therapy for people with so-called long-term conditions.

As well as heart disease, people can also get help with their mental health health if they have respiratory problems and diabetes.

So far more than 2,000 people have received help. Treatments available include personal therapy, guided self-help, and group sessions.

The team won the award for their partnership with the Cardiac Rehabilitation Service run by North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust which operates Peterborough and Hinchingbrooke hospitals.

Judges from the British Heart Foundation said: “These services were recognised for their work to improve care for people recovering from a heart attack or heart surgery.”

Since 2015, people suffering from stress, anxiety and depression have been able to refer themselves directly to the Psychological Wellbeing Service rather than having to go via their GP.

Anyone registered with a GP in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area can access the Psychological Wellbeing Service by completing an online form that can be found on the Trust’s website or by clicking here.Alternatively, the service can be contacted by calling 0300 300 0055. The lines are open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays.
