Become a governor at CPFT
24 February 2016

Elections are to be held to find new governors for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust.

The Council of Governors reflects the views of CPFT's members and helps decide what sort of services should be offered to local people.

The Trust provides mental health, learning disability, social care, and community services for adults and older people in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. It also provides children’s community services in Peterborough.

The election will aim to find new governors to represent the following areas:

Public Governors (representing the views of the public)
Cambridgeshire – six vacancies
Peterborough – two vacancies

Patient Governors (representing the views of patients and service users)
Service users living within the electoral areas of Cambridgeshire County Council – 2 vacancies
Service users living within the rest of England – one vacancy

Staff Governors (representing the views of CPFT staff)
Two vacancies

Elizabeth Mitchell, lead governor for CPFT, (pictured) said: “The Council of Governors plays a vital role in how CPFT operates and in planning services.

“Whatever someone’s background or experience, if they have a keen interest in health services I would ask them to please consider becoming a governor.

“It really is a chance to represent patients and staff and to ensure there is a public voice in decision making.”
