CPFT seeks new non-executive Chair
07 April 2014

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a new non-executive Chair.

CPFT provides integrated mental health, learning disability, children’s and social care services to a population of around 750,000 people living in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Operating from over 50 sites as well as in people’s own homes, the Trust employs around 2,200 staff and has an annual income of £150m.

As a founder member of Cambridge University Health Partners, one of six Academic Health Science partnerships in the UK, the Trust is committed to ensuring that the latest research findings are translated into the care that it provides, as well as influencing the research and development agenda.

Following the recent announcement that CPFT’s current Chairman, David Edwards, is to step down, the Trust is looking for someone who is passionate about the services provided, is comfortable in a role which requires inspirational leadership and can commit 3 days per week to the Trust.

As Chair, you will:
• Lead the Board of Directors and Council of Governors to develop the Trust’s vision, set the strategic aims, ensure that plans and resources are in place for these to be delivered and that performance is effectively monitored, reviewed and improved
• Provide independent judgement and advice and work with colleagues to provide inspiring leadership within a framework of prudent and effective controls, which enable risks to be assessed and managed
• Act as an ambassador for the Trust, networking and engaging with stakeholders, service users and their carers and the local community, ensuring that the Board is aware of their views as well as promoting the interests of the Trust nationally and locally
• Ensure that the Trust has a climate of openness and transparency and a framework of policies and procedures to respond effectively to the needs of its service users, commissioners and staff, whilst meeting statutory and regulatory requirements

For this position the Trust requires an outstanding individual, with significant and senior level expertise gained in a complex environment ideally at Board level. You will have excellent communication skills, political acumen and a well developed understanding of the NHS and the context that it operates within. You will have the personal credibility to build effective, sustainable relationships within the Trust and with external partners and have the ability to Chair the Board and the Council of Governors as well as public meetings with a style that is inclusive and engaging.

Remuneration for this role is £45,000.
