Two intrepid members of staff from CPFT are preparing to take part in the London marathon.

Kate Gough and Caroline McArthur are making final preparations ahead of Sunday’s 26.2-mile event. Kate and Caroline both work as clinical psychologists for the Adult eating disorder service at S3 Ward at Addenbrookes.

Kate (right in picture) said: “It will be the first time Caroline and I have ever taken part in a marathon so we’re really excited.

“We wanted a personal challenge and we're really excited to take part in such a big event.

“We are complete beginners,  but we’ve been training really hard since August and getting some great advice from our colleague, Helen Buxton, who’s a very experienced runner. The furthest we’ve run so far is 20 miles, but I’m sure the euphoria will carry us on the last stretch of the route.”

The pair will be running in aid of the Mental Health Foundation.

Kate added: “We’ve got not a set time in which we want to complete the marathon. We’re just going to go out to enjoy (and survive!) the experience.”
