Award delight for CPFT Liaison Psychiatry team

Staff at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) have been recognised by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

The Liaison Psychiatry team has been accredited as “excellent” for a second time. They are one of only seven liaison teams in the UK to have received the rating.

The team provide mental health care for patients while they are receiving treatment at Addenbrookes.

They provide assessment and mental health treatment to patients, as well as emergency mental health care and training for hospital staff.

The accreditation is part of the Royal College of Psychiatrists quality assessment programme and follows a wide-ranging examination of the team’s patient care. It aims to improve the quality of mental health care provided in general hospitals.

Dr Cathy Walsh, Clinical Director at CPFT said:  “It is wonderful for everyone here to have been awarded the accreditation, especially with the rating of ‘excellent’. Our aim is for every patient in the general hospital to have access to high quality mental health care. It is fantastic that the team’s efforts have been recognised by the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is a reflection of the team’s continuous hard work and determination.”
