More than 200 prospective students took the chance to visit the ground-breaking Recovery College East during two open days.

The college, which is run by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT), recently held open days at its campuses at the Gloucester Centre, Peterborough, and at the Trust’s Ida Darwin site, Fulbourn, Cambridge.

Tracey Tingey, Recovery College East Co-ordinator, said: “I am delighted with the response we received to the open days with more than 200 people visiting us to find out more about Recovery College East.
“I am really pleased that so many have already signed up for courses after having a look round and seeing what’s on offer.

“There are many reasons why students have signed up, but a number of them have told me this is a chance for them to return to the classroom, take a course they will enjoy, meet other people and boost their confidence.
“There are still places available, so I hope people continue to get in touch.”

Recovery College East was launched a year ago and offers a number of courses to help people develop new skills or increase their understanding of mental health challenges and recovery.

Following a hugely successful first 12 months, the college has decided to double the number of courses available. Courses include subjects such as creative writing, photography, and exploring mental health.

Courses are free and are open to people over the age of 18 who have received or are receiving services from CPFT. Courses are also open to their family members, carers and friends.
