Patients are putting on their running shoes after a £1,500 treadmill was donated to the Springbank ward at CPFT’s Fulbourn Hospital site.

JLL Electronics, based in Birmingham, made the donation after receiving a letter from physical activities facilitator, Nora O’Shea.

Nora (pictured above showing Springbank staff member Craig Littley how to use the new equipment) said: “I sent them a letter asking whether they would donate any equipment for a new gym area on Springbank ward. I was really surprised when I got a letter back saying that they wanted to donate a brand new treadmill.

“Exercise is really important in helping to improve people’s mental health and it plays a vital role in our patient’s treatment.

“We are so grateful for this generous donation and know that this will make a huge difference to the lives of the people that we help.”

Springbank is a specialist 12-bed unit which provides in-patient psychiatric services for women with severe personality disorders.
