Richard Jago, a student nurse working for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT), is preparing to test his strength and stamina by cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End.

He is planning on completing the 1,100 mile challenge in only 13 days - sleeping in a tent at night.

Richard, who lives in Chesterton, Cambridge, is raising money for Lifecycle, a charity that helps disadvantaged and disabled people enjoy cycling, and Emmaus Cambridge, a homeless charity that helps people sleeping rough get back on their feet.

Richard, who starts his epic journey on Tuesday, 20 August, said: “Working in mental health has helped open my eyes to the devastating impact it can have on the lives of people.
“Mental health illness affects one in four people and there are amazing services out there to help people on the road to recovery.

“These two charities do fantastic work to help support people who are living with challenges and I hope my cycle ride will help to raise awareness and money.”

Richard currently works on Mulberry 1 at Fulbourn, an inpatient unit supporting adults with mental health challenges.
