Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is saddened to learn of the death of board member Professor Sir Patrick Sissons.

Sir Patrick (pictured), who lived in Cambridge, died on Sunday (25 September).

A former Regius Professor of Physic at the University of Cambridge and Head of the School of Clinical Medicine at the University of Cambridge, he became of non-executive director of CPFT in 2013.

Chair of CPFT Julie Spence said: "Sir Patrick’s passing is very sad news, and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
"As a non-executive director, he was a vital link between our research work and our day-to-day care for patients and service-users.
"He was an extraordinarily clever man who was kind and thoughtful. The executive team shall miss his wise counsel and keen sense of humour."

Chief Executive of CPFT Aidan Thomas added: “Sir Patrick’s role as a non-executive director was pivotal.
"He consistently challenged the Trust to do more to ensure the latest research was translated into improved frontline care.
"But he was always supportive as well, and played a key role in our organisation’s transformation over the last three years.
"He made many friends at the Trust and he will be greatly missed."

A minute’s silence will be held before the start of Trust’s next board meeting on Wednesday.
