Trust chaplain hosts special Eid exhibition

CPFT chaplain Mohammed Rashid has hosted a special exhibition to mark the festival of Eid.

Patients, service-users and staff had the opportunity to view a series of posters and stands which detailed the meaning behind the Islamic celebration.

The exhibition took place at the Trust’s Cavell Centre in Peterborough.

Mohammed said: “This is a really great opportunity to celebrate Eid, but overall we want to celebrate diversity at CPFT as we welcome people of all religions and cultural backgrounds to the Trust.”

Mohammed joined the Trust almost two years ago becoming the first Muslim to join the chaplaincy team.

He said: “The main aspect of my work is working with patients, especially those in the community.

“I do a lot of work in the community to create awareness and help overcome stigma in mental health.

“It’s not been about working with Muslim communities, but all communities, and there is always more work to do.

“But overall it is about empowering people to help themselves and directing them not just to CPFT services, but services run by all different groups and organisations.

“It’s a pleasure to know that I am part of a Trust which helps different communities and those from different cultures and backgrounds.”
