UnitingCare Partnership selected for final stage of CCG bidding process

NHS joint bid involving CPFT chosen as one of four final bidders

UnitingCare Partnership selected for final stage of CCG bidding process
07 March 2014

UnitingCare Partnership (UCP) has been chosen by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG as one of the final four bidders for the contract to provide older people’s services and adult community services.

UCP, the only NHS-led bidder for these services, is pleased to confirm that it has been selected by the CCG to be one of the four bidders that will compete in the final stages of the tender process.

The partners of UCP are Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT). They bring to the bid a team of local NHS organisations, the third sector and the best of the private sector.

UCP has developed a health services model that is designed by local people and will be provided by local people, for the benefit of local people. UCP has conducted extensive engagement with patients and carers in the first stage of the development of its service model and is looking forward to further engagement with GPs and other stakeholders in the weeks to come.

Keith McNeil, chief executive of CUH, said: "I am really pleased that we are through to the next stage. Working with our partners we aim is to build a care model around the needs of patients and users to provide high-quality, integrated and safe care in a sustainable way.

"CUH is already responding to the needs of patients by providing services such as chemotherapy in the community and acute care in the comfort of patients’ homes, but if we are successful going forward, our integrated care initiative will allow us to do so much more for the benefit of our patients and the local health system as a whole."

Aidan Thomas, chief executive of CPFT (pictured), added: “Integrating services within the NHS is the only way to address the challenges we face. Patients are telling us that they want more health services in their homes or close by in their community and UnitingCare partnership will provide that.”
