National initiative to improve staffing levels on wards

Ward staffing levels published
23 June 2014

Statement from Melanie Coombes, Director of Nursing at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust in response to the national report on safer staffing:

“We are committed to providing patient care that is safe, compassionate and of the highest quality, and welcome this new national initiative to improve safety on inpatient wards.

“We would like to make clear that our registered day shift staffing levels are at 85%.

“The figure of 75% in the Unify report is incorrect. After we supplied the figure to Unify we realised we had made a miscalculation and we have since informed NHS England of our correct figures.

“We are committed to improving our figures and will continue to work closely together with our staff to ensure this happens.”
