CPFT wins contract to support vulnerable young people

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT)’s Child and Adolescent Substance Use Service (CASUS) has been awarded the contract to continue to provide an integrated drug and alcohol misuse service across Cambridgeshire.

The Cambridgeshire County Council Drug and Alcohol Action Team has awarded the contract to CASUS who will offer universal, targeted and specialist intervention to those in need of support.

CASUS has been the providing this service since April 2010, and the new contract, which starts in April 2013, will see them continue provision until 2019.

As part of the service provided, young people will receive help in a number of ways from a range of professionals including, substance misuse practitioners, nurses, social workers and psychiatrists.

The team will continue to work with the children of adults who misuse substances and will start working with some 18-21-year-olds.

CASUS team leader Suzanne Hare said: “We are delighted that we will be able to continue and expand our work with young people – many of whom are in extremely vulnerable situations. We are passionate about the work we do and we hope we can continue to make a positive impact on the lives of children and young people.”
