A daring group of mental health nurses are taking on an endurance challenge to raise £1,000 for new furniture for their ward.

The nine-strong team, who are all based at Fulbourn Hospital, in Cambridge, which is run by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) will be tackling a 4,500ft ascent in the Brecon Beacons.

The nurses who all work on Mulberry 1 will begin their two-day challenge on Sunday 21 September.

Staff nurse Richard Jago (pictured), who is organising the fundraiser said: “It’s definitely going to be a real challenge but we know the money raised will make a big difference to our ward and the people here. We are aiming to buy some new comfortable chairs for the ward – and I think we are going to need a good sit down after two days of climbing.”
