Urgent information for patients and visitors to The Cavell Centre on 28 November

Royal visit to Peterborough Hospital will cause severe disruption

Urgent information for patients and visitors to The Cavell Centre on 28 November
22 November 2012

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be officially opening Peterborough City Hospital on Wednesday 28 November 2012. They will arrive at 3.15pm and spend about an hour and a half at the hospital. This will cause severe disruption in and around the hospital site and will affect staff, patients and visitors at The Cavell Centre throughout that day. If you have an appointment at The Cavell Centre on this day, or plan to visit, please take note of the guidance below.

During 26-27 November, barriers and police check points will be prepared. These won’t be in operation until 28 November, but there may be some disruption to traffic flow around the car parks caused by them being installed.

28 November: Access to the hospital site will be restricted to ensure we are able to continue to deliver services as normal. If you have an appointment on 28 November, but don't have an apppointment letter, please contact your case worker or ward/service as soon as possible to let them know. Due to the extra security, it may cause some delays getting on to site – allow some extra time to get to your appointment. If you have an appointment letter, please bring it with you. Delays are also expected up to an hour or so after the royal couple leave as visitors and media leave the site.

Please use Car Park A and the multi-storey car park. Buses will be running as normal all day. Stagecoach’s Peterborough Citi buses 2, 3 and 7 all stop at PCH.

A free park-and-ride facility will be running from 12noon-6pm on that day from Serpentine Green to the hospital. The scheme will be operated by a number of Grettons Coaches from the Serpentine Green, Hampton, Car Park C. The buses will depart from Serpentine Green every 30 - 15mins (staring at 12noon). This will be a free service.

If you have any questions about access, please contact your care worker or the ward.
