The Cambridge BRAINFest is the first ever Festival of Neuroscience to be held in Cambridge. Between 23-25 of June. BRAINfest will showcase the breadth of neuroscience research in Cambridge from the fundamental mechanisms of normal brain function to the neuroscience of illnesses like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer's, as well as mental illnesses. The event will include several interactive exhibits at the Corn Exchange and a series of exciting talks over the weekend. A particularly unique element will the panel discussion on ‘Brains and Mental Health’ on the evening of the 24 June. A panel of psychiatrists and neuro scientists from the University of Cambridge and CPFT will answer audience questions about the science of mental illness. This will very possibly be the first ever 'Question Time for psychiatry’ and will be hosted by Prof Simon Wessely, the outgoing President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. The panel will aim to communicate the current and ongoing research into the neuroscience of mental illnesses and what this says about our current understanding of these conditions and the future of the field.
