Paying for Care is a new approach to providing social care. It aims to give people maximum choice, control and power over their own support.

Eligible individuals will be allocated a personal budget with the service user identifying their own needs and goals and plans how to meet them using their personal budget. You can find out more about self-directed support from Cambridgeshire County Council's website here

Over time people who use social care services and their families will increasingly shape and commission the services they receive. Putting People First 2007

Paying for care is broken down into seven steps:

  • Money – finding out how much
  • Making a support plan
  • Getting my plan agreed
  • Organising my money
  • Organising my support
  • Living my life
  • Seeing how it worked

You will find a number of papers and links (below) to further information on paying for care. Also see information on Personal Health Budgets.
