Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) provides young people and their families with intensive home-based therapy, offering a range of therapeutic approaches to address concerns and provide support to help young people and their family cope better.

Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) is an intensive treatment that addresses the multiple determinants of serious anti-social behaviour. MST Cambridgeshire is based in Huntingdon and has two teams, which target young people who are at risk of out-of-home placement (care or custody):

MST Standard works with children of secondary school age who exhibit anti-social behaviour at home and/or in the community, including offending, physical and verbal aggression, mixing with anti-social peers and truanting from school. If this behaviour is triggered by substance abuse (alcohol and/or drugs) then intervention requiring abstinence will be included.

MST Problem Sexual Behaviour (PSB), part of the Four Authority Partnership, works with children aged 10-17 who exhibit sexual behavioural problems.

MST SA (Substance Abuse)

MST SA is specialised in addressing severe adolescent substance abuse and uses a contingency management programme with drug testing in collaboration with parents/carers.  After discussion of the referral behaviours and the family's desired outcomes, the family and MST worker agree a number of goals to work on and these goals will be the focus of the 3-5 month intervention.

MST SA services are provided by Cambridgeshire County Council in partnership with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust for families in Cambridgeshire with children or young people between the ages of 11-17.

See MST SA Cambridgeshire for more information about the service and how to refer.
