Working together to make a difference!

Research can lead to discovery, hope, improved quality of life and a wide range of other potential benefits for people experiencing mental health issues, their families and society as a whole.

Over the past decade significant progress has been made in mental health research but there is still a lot to learn about what triggers mental illness and the impact it has on people and their lives. We also need to understand more about prevention and therapy in order to obtain better outcomes and increase treatment options for service users.

In this area of the website you can find out how you can contribute and make a difference by:

  • taking part in research studies as ‘participants’. For further information please see the following link: Taking part in research and/or
  • getting more actively involved in the design and running of a research project by working alongside researchers as ‘service user and carer advisors or researchers’.For further information please see the following link: Help to shape research
