A 24-hour / seven-day-a-week community-based team providing assessment and home treatment as appropriate for people experiencing a mental health crisis.

How this service can help you

  • Provides assessment and short term treatment in the community for people who might otherwise need admission to an acute psychiatric unit
  • Offers support to those who have been in hospital and are ready for early discharge
  • Assessment will normally be in the individual's home or at an NHS unit.
  • While the service user is receiving support from the Home Treatment Team, they and their carers can contact the team 24 hours / seven days week
  • The team will provide intensive support and care during a crisis, according to an agreed plan of care
  • The care plan will include the location where the team will meet the individual, how often the visits will happen, interventions needed, contact details for the CRHTT, medication/treatment information, needs of families/carers
  • Treatment is home based to keep disruption to everyday life to a minimum

Quote from student nurse:
"I am a first year student nurse with the open university following the mental health pathway. I am currently working with the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team (CRHTT) at the Cavell Centre, Peterborough. I was excited but nervous on my first day on placement with the team, as this was my first day as a student and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. But everyone on that first day made me feel welcome and part of a team. Being somewhere new and learning a whole new system of working and getting used to being a student is daunting enough, but I have to say that the staff within the CRHTT are the best, from support time recovery workers right through to the doctors and treated as a member of the team. When I qualify as a nurse and have had some experience on the wards I would like to return to CRHTT as a practitioner.”

What our patients are saying is best about the service:
“I felt like my problems were taken seriously”

“Staff listened and tried to help”

“An understanding of my condition”

“the thoughtfulness and friendliness of the team”
