This is a service offering specialist assessment and psychological interventions to adults with eating disorders.

The vast majority of people who need treatment receive psychological therapy as an out-patient. Ward S3 is a mixed-sex in-patient unit for adults aged 18-plus, based at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. It is a specialist unit for individuals with an eating disorder who have been assessed by the community team and are considered to need a more intensive approach to the treatment of their eating disorder. The ward has recently been refurbished and has 14 beds, all-single-room facility. In-patient treatment is provided for individuals with severe anorexia nervosa who are at high risk physically and psychologically. Prior to considering a hospital admission, the patient will be assessed by Dr Jane Shapleske (Consultant Psychiatrist - Cambridge Adult Eating Disorder Service), or a member of the medical team.
