Head to Toe - the charity of community care and mental health provider Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust - has today been announced as the official charity partner for all Living Sport’s active events.

Living Sport, which works to raise the profile of sport and to increase participation across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, will be donating a share of any profits it makes from the activities it organises to Head to Toe and will also be encouraging participants to run in aid of the charity, to support local patients with mental health and long-term physical health conditions.

The first event to benefit Head to Toe will be Living Sport’s Greater Cambridge 10k which will be taking place on 9 September at the University of Cambridge Sports Centre, Philippa Fawcett Drive, Cambridge, CB3 0AS.

Clare Jones, Head of Charity for Head to Toe, said: “We are delighted that Living Sport has chosen to support us. Living Sport completely understands the links between good physical health and good mental health, and that’s key to the work of CPFT and to us as the charity which supports the Trust.

“As a local charity, this partnership is a massive boost for us and the people we support across our communities and the amazing NHS staff at CPFT who care for them. We are so grateful to everyone at Living Sport and look forward to cheering on the runners
in September!”

Simon Fairhall, Chief Executive of Living Sport, said: “The partnership between Head to Toe and Living Sport is perfect timing. We are increasingly doing work around the mental health agenda because there is a wealth of evidence around how it can be supported by good physical health. We look forward to working together and we are delighted this link-up can begin with the Greater Cambridge 10k.”

Now in its third year, the run begins at 9.30am. The event is organised under UK Athletics rules, is officially measured, and will be chip-timed. The course is traffic-free along the University of Cambridge West Cambridge site roads, cycle paths and footpaths. Flat and fast, it offers all entrants a great chance to record a personal best. All those who complete the run will be given a medal and a t-shirt.
