Staff at the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) have been recognised by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Oak 2 Ward at the Cavell Centre, Peterborough, has been awarded the Accreditation for Inpatient Mental Health Services after a thorough assessment process.
The accreditation is part of the College’s quality assessment programme and follows a wide-ranging examination of the ward’s patient care and procedures.
The staff of Oak 2, a ward for male patients experiencing acute mental health problems, have been accredited as “excellent” – the highest rating that can be achieved.
Jane Crolley, Manager of Oak 2 Ward, for said: “It is wonderful for everyone here to have been awarded the
accreditation, especially with the best possible rating of excellent.
“It is fantastic that the team’s efforts have been recognised by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. This really is a reflection of everyone’s hard work and spirit.”
Dr Attila Vegh, Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I am delighted for everyone at Oak 2 Ward. They provide amazing care and fully deserve this honour.”

AIMS is a standards-based accreditation programme run by the Royal College of Psychiatrists designed to improve the quality of care in inpatient mental health wards.
Through a comprehensive process of review, it identifies high standards of organisation and patient care.
Accreditation assures staff, service users and carers, commissioners and regulators of the quality of the service being provided.
Among the items in the report rated as excellent were:
• How patients and carers were very complimentary about all staff members.
• How the staff were patient-focused and very supportive
• The excellence of health records kept by staff
• How patients receive 24-hour access to safe outside area.
