Providing psychological treatment to patients attending general hospitals.

How this service can help you

Clinical Health Psychologists work in a range of acute and community hospital settings, specialising in areas of physical health medicine with patients who may also have co-morbid underlying psychological problems. The services consist of a multi-disciplinary team comprising medical consultants, clinical nurse specialists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and administrative staff. The aim is to help patients manage their long term conditions, prevent disability and improve their quality of life. This may involve medication and medical procedures but it will also involve encouraging patients to make changes in their lives through activity and exercise, education and relaxation strategies.
