Cardiac rehabilitation programme options include:

Group exercise (seated exercise is possible)

An eight-week programme, which is led by an exercise specialist, supported by a cardiac nurse. Sessions are held at North Cambs Hospital, Wisbech, on Wednesdays between 930am and 1130am and Doddington Hospital on Thursdays between 9.30am and 11.30am.

Consists of low level/functional exercises, using the heart manual, which is a six-week facilitated, self-help rehabilitation programme for people recovering from a cardiac event. One of the nurses in the team will visit the patient in their home and devise a tailored exercise programme, usually followed by regular telephone contact with the nurse.

Road to recovery

A home-based 6-8 week higher intensity exercise programme (exercise is DVD-led). People taking up this option are assessed at the beginning of the programme and again at the end. Telephone support is available throughout. We take referrals to this service directly from all the local hospitals and GPs.
