The Hollies is a specialist 10-bed unit providing assessment and treatment for adults with learning disabilities. It provides a single room for each patient, and the unit is divided into male and female accommodation.

How this service can help you

Adults with a learning disability who have been identified as having additional complex needs and are at immediate risk to themselves or others or harm, neglect and/or abuse that requires inpatient admission.

Additional complex needs may include:

  • mental illness, including personality disorder, not responding to interventions in community settings
  • epilepsy affecting their everyday living skills and social inclusion
  • challenging behaviours
  • pervasive developmental disorders including autistic spectrum/ADHD disorders

and may:

  • require legislation
  • be resistant to treatment
  • be inter-related to other bio-psycho social needs
  • require more than one professional and a multi-disciplinary team to meet their needs
  • require care programme approach continued support
