Liaison Psychiatry provides psychiatric treatment to patients attending general hospitals.  It deals with the connection between physical and psychological health.

How this service can help you

The CPFT Liaison Psychiatry Service offers assessment, diagnosis and treatment for emotional, psychological and psychiatric problems for anyone who is a patient at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and who is referred by their treating medical or surgical team.
There are many reasons why your treating team might suggest that you see us.

• Alcohol or drug problems
• Suicidal feelings or self-harm
• Post-traumatic stress (eg, following serious accident or prolonged ITU admission)
• Problems with mental functions such as concentration or memory, particularly in older people
• Advice on managing a pre-existing psychiatric illness
• Difficulties in making decisions about treatment
• Help identifying and managing psychological factors which might be contributing to, or making physical symptoms worse
• General support in coping with physical illness or treatment

How do I refer to the Liaison Psychiatry Team?

Referrals to the team are made by the Hinchingbrooke Hospital treating medical or surgical team. They can contact the Liaison Psychiatry Team directly on extension 3532 or via email
