Poplar Ward, which is based at The Cavell Centre in Peterborough, is a six-bed unit for men who are experiencing a difficult period in their mental health.

How this service can help you

Poplar is a six-bed male psychiatric intensive care unit, for working age adults. We care for patients who are suffering from mental conditions and are detained under the mental health act. The usual length of stay is between three to six weeks.

We aim to work with service users to enable them to recover as quickly as possible On Poplar Ward we work with you and a range of professionals in mental health care so that you are kept up-to-date and fully in the picture regarding your care. The care we offer includes:

  • Individual one-to-one time with nurses
  • Psychoeducation
  • Medication
  • Occupational therapy
  • Brief Psychological interventions
  • Advice and support for housing and finances
