The Arts Therapies Service provides individual and group therapies. 

The Arts Therapies Service provides individual and group therapies. Arts Therapies can improve wellbeing in the moment, and promote inclusion, co-production, independence, hope and optimism by creatively celebrating strengths, facilitating non-verbal, as well as verbal communication and through establishing emotional connection which can reduce isolation and contribute towards the individuals health and well-being.

CPFT Art Therapists have adapted to meet the needs of its staff and patients during the Covid19 lockdown. It continues to connect and engage people by offering virtual groups as well as one to one Arts Therapies sessions with its Art, Music and Dramatherapy practitioners. Arts Therapies are also providing face to face sessions with patients where a need has been identified in COVID safe environments.

 

Art therapy, music therapy or dramatherapy are available for all directorates for all ages across the north and south localities of the Trust including:

  • The Adult and Specialist Directorate: Art, music and dramatherapy groups and individual sessions are available on acute adult wards and for patients in the community. The Arts Therapies Service also run choirs and provide art exhibitions which uplift the environment and foster wellbeing.
  • Older People’s and Adult Community Directorate: Art, music and dramatherapy groups and individual sessions are available on acute dementia and older people's wards and for older people including people living with dementia in the Community. The Arts Therapies Service also runs choirs and provide art exhibitions that uplift the environment and foster wellbeing
  • Children's, Young People's and Families Directorate: Art, music and dramatherapy groups and individual sessions are available groups and individual sessions for children and parents on Tier 4 children’s wards.

Referrals

If you are interested in being referred to Art Therapies, please talk to your medical practitioner in order to be referred. Initially you will be referred to CPFT and then a CPFT Professional/ and or Care Coordinator can refer you to Art Therapies.
