The Safeguarding Children Team supports CPFT staff in practice to address safeguarding of children and young people in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
How this service can help you
Our primary aim is to support CPFT staff in dealing with safeguarding issues. However we are also available for advice to other colleagues working with children and young people.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined within 'Working together to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and families' Department of Health 2015 as:

Protecting children from maltreatment

Preventing impairment of children’s health or development

Ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care

Taking action to enable all children to have the best life chances.
The Safeguarding Children Team provide advice, guidance and support for all staff working within CPFT. We will help and signpost other colleagues as necessary via the local safeguarding children network.

We do not accept direct referrals from agencies outside Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust.

Who provides this service?
The Children’s Safeguarding Team is provided by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust Children’s Business Unit, working collaboratively with colleagues in social care and other agencies concerned with the welfare of local children and young people.
Who is this service for?
The named doctor and specialist nurse for safeguarding children provide advice, guidance and support for all staff working within CPFT who may have concerns about the safety or welfare of children living in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
