CAMH Crisis Team

How our service can help you

Cambridgeshire’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Crisis Team is a multi-disciplinary service which works with children and young people who experience a crisis with their emotional and mental health.

The service is for those who are up to 17 years old, unless they have been diagnosed with an eating disorder or a neurodevelopmental disorder. We cover the whole of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and we assess those who are:

  • At immediate and significant risk to others due to their mental health
  • Being considered for admission to a mental health inpatient unit
  • At risk of immediate and significant self-harm
  • In acute psychological or emotional distress that is causing them to not be able to go about their daily activities, such as going to school and looking after themselves.

The mental health risk assessment is carried out at the child's or young person's home, community base, or hospital such as Addenbrookes Hospital (CUH) Hinchingbrooke and Peterborough City Hospital (NWAFT). We then develop a safety plan for them, as well as thier parent or carer.

Carers Information

  • A carer is anyone, including children and adults who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support. The care they give is unpaid.

At Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, we value the often life-long support carers provide and recognise them as equal care partners. We want to offer as much guidance and reassurance as possible, to help you in your caring role.
