Physiotherapy Referrals

The child/young person must be between the ages of 0-18 years old (19 if in special school) and have a registered Peterborough GP for their referral to be considered. We see children/young people with general development delay, motor disorders and complex physical disabilities. We will not accept a referral for general musculoskeletal conditions, so please consider referring to the hospital for these concerns.

All referrals are triaged by a senior physiotherapist on a regular basis. The child/young person and their family will be notified of the outcome (or referrer).

Referrals are considered from the following health professionals.

  • GP's
  • Paediatricians/Consultants
  • Health visitors
  • Social care
  • Education professionals (SENCo's)
  • Other allied health care professionals (e.g. cccupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists)

To ensure that triage can be completed appropriately and in a timely manner, please provide as much information as possible on the referral form. We do not accept referrals where the form has not been completed. Please note that we aim to see all children within 18 weeks of the referral.
