What is an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a great way to earn while you learn. You’ll get hands on experience of working in the NHS, while studying for a nationally recognised qualification to kick start your career. As part of the apprenticeship you will take part in a structured development programme, which includes the following:
- On-the-job training and development in your team area
- 20% off the job training (which can include classroom-based learning, portfolio work, project work or observation assessments from an assessor who visits you in the workplace)
- An apprenticeship and/or accredited qualification
- Functional skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT, if required (includes some teaching and an exam)

What apprenticeships are available at CPFT?
We offer apprentice administrators roles. These can range from working in a ward, a community clinic or an office depending on where the role is based and requirements of the role.
Apprenticeships are also available to those already working in the Trust to support with career development. These are the apprenticeships that are offered to staff within the Trust.

How to apply?
There is no set time when an apprenticeship is advertised. Most apprenticeships are advertised for two weeks. Once the advert has closed and if your application has been successful, you will be invited for an interview, usually by the e-mail address you provided when you registered.
After your interview you will be notified whether or not you have been offered the position. If you have been offered the position, we will begin the pre-employment checks and confirm a start date. Once you have started, the training provider will meet with you and your line manager to discuss the apprenticeship programme. This will be tailored to meet the requirements of the job role and your needs.
