How our service can help you
The Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) service provides assessment, diagnosis and treatment for adults with acquired communication, voice, and swallowing disorders.
Patients are seen on an inpatient, outpatient and domiciliary basis. The team also provides telephone advice and support to families and carers. Home visits are available for patients where it is helpful to see them in their own homes to make swallowing assessments at meal times, or if the patient is unable to travel.
Referrals may be due to a wide range of medical diagnoses, including stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, dementia and some ear, nose and throat (ENT) conditions.
Speech and language therapy services are provided at the following locations:
- North Cambridgeshire Hospital, Wisbech
- Doddington Hospital
- Princess of Wales Hospital, Ely
- Brookfields Hospital, Cambridge
- Chesterton Medical Centre, Cambridge
- Fulbourn Hospital, Cambridge
- Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Huntingdon
- City Care Centre, Peterborough

Carers Information
-
A carer is anyone, including children and adults who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support. The care they give is unpaid.
At Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, we value the often life-long support carers provide and recognise them as equal care partners. We want to offer as much guidance and reassurance as possible, to help you in your caring role. You can find general information and support for adult carers, young carers and parent carers by following this link.
