Board of Directors

Led by a Non-Executive Chair, the CPFT Board of Directors is made up of a Trust Chair, Deputy Trust Chair/Senior Independent Director, five Non-Executive Directors, two Associate Non-Executive Directors, the Chief Executive Officer and six Executive Directors.
 
The Board is a unitary board responsible for ensuring that CPFT is accountable to the public for the services it manages.

Professor Rudolf Cardinal, Non-Executive Director

Professor Rudolf Cardinal, Non-Executive Director

Rudolf Cardinal is Professor of Psychiatry and Informatics at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge, and an honorary consultant liaison psychiatrist with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

His background is in behavioural and cognitive neuroscience, general medicine, and general adult and liaison psychiatry.

His research spans neuroscience, computational psychiatry (using computers to help understand the brain and mind), and clinical informatics (safely collecting and using data to understand illness and help health care).

Clinically, Rudolf works in CPFT’s Liaison Psychiatry Service based within Addenbrooke’s Hospital and the Rosie Hospital in Cambridge. These hospitals provide acute general and maternity services, plus specialist services including transplantation, tertiary neurology/neurosurgery services, and the major trauma service for the East of England.

Rudolf has worked clinically with CPFT since 2007 and became a Non-Executive Director in 2025. He is also a Non-Executive Director for Cambridge University Health Partners.
