Vacancies for Non-Executive Directors
Welcome from Eileen Milner, Chair
Welcome from Eileen Milner, Chair
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Non-Executive Director at the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust. I hope that you will find this candidate pack helpful and that you will be excited by the prospect of joining our organisation – despite the many challenges of the NHS, I can genuinely say that we are a place where amazing things happen every day.
We are the only NHS body in the geography of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough that provides services to every part of our locality. Our population is diverse and growing but we wrestle with the consequences of significant health inequalities in some areas that have persisted across generations.
We work closely with partners in our health and care system and indeed beyond our geographic boundaries. We have an enviable national and international reputation for research and innovation and we want to build on this still further. Our services span an enormous spectrum involving both physical and mental ill health and the professional base of our trust reflects this.
You will have heard much in the press about unprecedented demands for services – this is undoubtedly true. The financial position of the NHS is stretched and complex decisions around prioritisation have to be made every day. We are working with those who use services and those who care for them, often at times of greatest vulnerability and our staff work with huge levels of compassion, expertise and care.
As a Non-Executive Director, your role will be to join a board made up of both executive and non-executive colleagues who share collective accountabilities for all that happens at the Trust. The role of the Non-Executive is that of bringing expertise, clear-eyed ability to deploy supportively framed challenge and a curiosity to learn more about the services we provide and the people that we serve.
If you are interested in pursuing your interest in this role, then I would be pleased to have a conversation with you.

Chair – Cambridgeshire & Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust
