Important COVID-19 updates
In line with NHS England guidance around Covid transmission, we are minimising the occasions where children and young people are seen face to face both in clinic, home and educational settings. We are using safer ways to continue to provide our service and offer support, such as telephone or video consultations as the first option where we can. If your child needs to be seen face to face by a therapist in clinic, we have put measures in place to make this as safe as possible for you and your child. If being seen face to face, please ensure you follow any guidance given to you carefully to keep the risks as low as possible.
If you have any queries about your child's care, please contact us via telephone: 0300 555 5965 on email: email@example.com or visit our Clinics and Services page for further information about what we offer.
What is Community Children's Physiotherapy?
We complete assessments, treatment and manage children who have general developmental delay, movement disorders and complex physical disabilities. We work with children, young people and their families/carer's to identify goals and develop the most suitable treatment programmes for individuals. We aim to focus on function and participation in everyday life helping them to reach their full potential and improve their quality of life.
What to expect if you are seen by a physiotherapist?
If offered a physiotherapy assessment, service users are expected to attend an appointment at the Child Development Centre, City Care Centre, Peterborough. Here they will meet their allocated physiotherapist. The first appointment may take up to 90 minutes during which the physiotherapist will discuss relevant medical information and parental concerns as well as complete a physical assessment. After the initial appointment, the child/young person's physiotherapist will discuss and develop an appropriate treatment plan based on the findings from the assessment. They will then arrange follow up appointments (if needed) according to your child/young persons need.
