CPFT sets out five-year vision for excellence
A bold vision of how mental health and community services will provide care for people over the next five years and beyond has today been launched by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust.
The Trust – a University of Cambridge teaching hospital partner - has launched its new strategy which outlines its determination to deliver outstanding support for patients.
In an ambitious move, CPFT has also published its new Clinical and Health Equity strategies which also outline the organisation plans between now and 2031.
Chief Executive Steve Grange said: “I am immensely proud of the great steps forward we have made at CPFT. There is a huge amount of ambition within our suite of strategies. The Trust, Clinical and Health Equity strategies mark an exciting time for CPFT as we work together to improve the health outcomes of the communities we serve.”
The strategies have been drawn-up after extensive collaboration between patients, carers, health partners, third-sector organisations and Trust staff.
CPFT provides community physical health services for older people and adults with long-term conditions, mental health services, children’s community services in Peterborough, and learning disability services.
The Trust is also renowned for its research and development work and, in June 2025, was awarded teaching hospital partner status by the University of Cambridge.
The Trust strategy outlines how CPFT will evolve and continue to build on its expertise to meet the needs of the people of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
The Clinical Strategy prioritises safety, quality, and innovation, ensuring that care is effective, evidence-based, and integrated across physical and mental health, while the Health Equity Strategy focuses on fairness, inclusion, and tackling inequalities, aiming to make services more accessible and equitable for all.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Cathy Walsh said: “These strategies are more than documents — they are a commitment to making a real difference in people’s lives, supporting our staff, and building a healthier, more connected future for our communities.”
