Dr Catherine Maxey, Interim Chief Medical Officer

Dr Catherine Maxey is Interim Chief Medical Officer and a consultant psychiatrist. She brings over 15 years of her frontline clinical expertise as a consultant in both community and liaison psychiatry. She continues to work clinically in Peterborough with those in our community who experience severe and enduing mental illness. In her Board role she provides strategic leadership across patient safety and experience, clinical effectiveness, medical workforce, innovation and research.
She has held senior clinical and educational leadership roles, including Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Clinical Director for Adult and Specialist Services and clinical Sub Dean for medical students at the University of Cambridge. She holds master’s qualifications in both Medical Education and Leadership.
She also currently serves as a committee member on the NICE guidance review committee for Severe and Enduring Mental Illness. She is committed to providing compassionate, effective, and equitable evidence-based care, strong professional leadership and a culture of continuous learning and improvement for all.
